Application of Directional Acoustic Scanning in Detecting Hidden Karst Caves Around Borehole

    • This article delves intoto the difficulties and hotspots in engineering geological surveys, specifically how to accurately describe and detect concealed karst caves in borehole surrounding rocks using a limited number of boreholes and advanced survey techniques. The study primarily utilizes directional acoustic scanning technology for boreholes, which is capable of collecting acoustic reflection signals from rock structures at different depths, directions, and distances around the borehole.By combining the acoustic response characteristics of concealed karst caves, this article proposes methods for three-dimensional visualization, geographical location description, and size estimation of concealed karst caves, enabling the distribution mapping and quantitative evaluation of concealed karst caves around the borehole.Through the analysis of practical engineering cases, the effectiveness of directional acoustic scanning technology in detecting concealed karst caves around the borehole is verified. This technology can highlight the geometric morphological characteristics of potential karst caves and provide quantitative reference data information. The research in this article provides a more sophisticated technical means for karst exploration and opens up a broad application prospect for the development of engineering survey fields.
